30 dec 2007

Ian has been making media appearances discussing the upcoming Number One Project, on which he has worked on as a bit of "A&R" man. The project is aimed to be the largest charity event of the year of 2008, with a concert on 19 January featuring covers of the 56 number one hits that Liverpool has produced. It will be followed by a single on 28 January and an album on 4 February. In addition to collecting artists to perform, Ian will contribute a cover of John Lennon's "Woman" which already appears on his MySpace page. The project supports Echo Sunrise Fund, The Marina Daglish Appeal, Alder Hey Children's Hospital IMAGINE Appeal, Radio City's Give A Child A Chance, Radio Merseyside Charitable Trust, and The Marie Curie Liverpool Hospice Appeal.

1 september 2007 -- ian on BBC6

Ian will appear on BBC Radio 6 this Sunday from 1pm to 2pm. Catch the man's witty commentary on this year's Mercury Prize (ahem, Nationwide Mercury Prize).

ian named to liverpool echo's "liverpool 800"

The list doesn't seem to appear anywhere online, but in the August 28 issue of the Liverpool Echo Ian was listed among 799 other people "who made Merseyside great."

2 disc set and lyric sheet still available

Last autumn, Ian finished the 25th Anniversary Tour of The Icicle Works. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Icicle Works, Beggars Banquet released a special 2 disc set of the original Icicle Works album featuring remastered original tracks plus a CD full of b-sides and remixes. Plus, for a strictly limited edition, there was a 3 CD box set that featured an additional CD of live versions of the album tracks as recorded for the BBC. (now sold out most places) Townsend Records is offering an exclusive signed and numbered lyric sheet of "Love is a Wonderful Colour" for which Ian gets a cut.
